I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Striving4More

NOTE *** I have requested a 6:30pm Shave Time on 3/7/08 *** On 10/17/2007, Colleen and I were trying on hats in the resource center at UNC Hospital. When she removed one of the hats, she noticed that a clump of hair came out. She suddenly started grabbing at her head and pulling big clumps and calmly handling them to me. She was so calm while she repeatedly handed me these clumps of her precious hair. She had very thick hair so even though she did this about 20 times, she still had a lot of hair on her head. That night, after Vince and I switched off, she made the decision to shave her head. It was starting to get in her mouth when she was eating and it was getting down her clothes and becoming quite irritating. Vince shaved his head to support Colleen that night and has kept it really short ever since. This year, I decided to shave my head to honor my daughter who died on June 9, 2008. Colleen will be able to see her bald Mom from heaven and get a good laugh! I also want to do it so I can raise money to help fight this horrific disease that steals too many children from their parents like Colleen was stolen from us. Please support me by making a donation or by coming to the event on 3/7 at Napper Tandys in downtown Raleigh. Check out what else I am doing to help kids with cancer by visiting my blog at http://www.striving4grace.blogspot.com or http://www.striving4more.org Thanks! Diane
