I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital

I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital

Those of you who know me personally, know that I do media and video production for a living, and many of you are probably aware that I do so within University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital here in Cleveland, Ohio. In my capacity here, I do not have clinical responsibilities... I haven't done any research into new medications or treatments for pediatric cancers... I don't daily take the tiny heart of a baby and repair it to ensure continued life... I don't give a kid without legs a new lease on life... I don't sit and hold the hand of a mother and a daughter who don't know what tomorrow will bring... but I am privileged to work with people who do. What I do is make videos and run what we call the Rainbow Channel. I produce programming to try and give a little entertainment and sense of normalcy and fun into a stay at our hospital. If I manage to make a couple of them enjoy themselves for a part of their day, then I suppose it could be argued that I've helped in some small way. But I feel like I should always be doing more for them. I like to tell people that the reason I get up and go to a job every day is for six beautiful children that I love and cherish at home... but the reason I go to a job HERE is because of the kids that are here. Everyday I am inspired by the courage and strength of children who in their earliest years of life are going through more than I have ever had to deal with in my 40 years of life. I am inspired by the unadulterated joy on a mother's face when her bedridden daughter exits the bed for a wants to sit up for a picture and it's obviously difficult and a milestone for her. While I don't know what jobs and opportunities will come up for me in the future as I work to provide for my loving family, I don't know that I will ever find a job more fulfilling than the one I have now. So I'm going to take another step towards making the humblest of dents in the problem of pediatric cancer by joining with the St. Baldrick's foundation in shaving my head this month. Not just to raise money, but to show solidarity with the many kids here who are truly heroic to me. Please support me with a donation to the St. Baldrick's Foundation. This volunteer-driven charity funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U. S. government. Your gift will give hope to infants, children, teens and young adults fighting childhood cancers. So when I ask for your support, I'm really asking you to support these kids. Thank you! Click "Make a donation" to give online, or donate by phone or mail. ANY amount helps... please give something and stand with me to help fight childhood cancer.
