I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: UC Davis Fire Department

Dear Friends and Family, In collaboration with my chief and coworkers at the UC Davis Fire Department, I will be shaving my head in honor of children undergoing treatment for cancer. The March 28 event is a fundraiser for the St. Baldrick's Foundation, which funds childhood cancer research. In fact, they are a leading fundraiser for this kind of research, second only to the US Government. With my bald head, I’ll stand in solidarity with kids being treated for cancer while raising money for life-saving research. My decision to participate as a shavee was not decided upon lightly, but I had little hesitation, as I'm participating in honor of Molly Easton, the daughter of a firefighter in a nearby department. Diagnosed at two years old, Molly is a survivor of both a brain tumor and retinoblastoma, a malignant tumor of the eye. I have followed her treatment and growth since her diagnosis, and I am continuously in awe of her strength and spirit. A link to Molly's page can be found on the right side of this page, under the section for honored children. Thankfully, Molly is now a happy four year old in remission, and we look forward to honoring her at our event. If Miss Molly can rock the bald, so can I! While I'm totally willing to sacrifice my hair for the cause (it's a renewable resource, after all), I'm hoping that you'll join me by donation (unless of course you'd like to shave your head with me!). I have set a goal to raise $5,000, as it's not everyday you find a woman willing to shave off 14 inches of hair! I feel that it's totally worth it, and provides me at least two years to explain to curious passersby that I shaved my head for the cause. Thank you for visiting my page, and on behalf of some very special kids, thank you for your support!
