Why am I having my head shaved? To stand in solidarity with kids fighting cancer, who typically lose their hair during treatment.
Please help me achieve my monetary goal for donation. I am not only making a monetary donation, I know that my 11 inch locks of hair will be used to make extensions or a wig to help those who have lost theirs during treatment.
When I think of who motivates me to shave my head and collect donations for this cause, I think more specifically of my cousin's son, Christian Millet, who has shown great bravery during his numerous chemo treatments at CHEO following the removal of his kidney when he was under 5 yrs of age.
As far as the cause itself, I also think of my beloved father-in-law who died of pancreatic cancer, and my own father and uncle who were affected by colon cancer and an aunt who has had breast cancer and is in remission.
More importantly, I'm doing it to raise funds for childhood cancer research! Worldwide, more than 160,000 children are diagnosed with cancer each year. The St. Baldrick's Foundation partners with organizations around the world to fund childhood cancer research. We must all do everything we can to give kids a better chance for a cure.
