In August 2007, my sister had her first baby -- my first niece, and it got me to thinking about how awful it would be if something were to happen to her. She has since had a little boy, and my younger sister has a baby boy on the way. It only serves to reaffirm how important this cause is to me. Something like cancer can and does happen to people all the time, but there is much that can be done about it. I believe it is possible to find a cure but unfortunately, that kind of research takes a lot of money. There are also treatments that can help, but these also cost money.
As a former US Marine, having my head shaved is nothing new, but doing it for reasons that will benefit others is something great. When I found out about St. Baldrick's I wanted to get involved right away. I quickly signed up to be a shavee and had my head shaved to stand in solidarity with kids fighting cancer. More importantly, it was to raise money to find cures. This will be my fifth straight year having my head shaved with St. Baldrick's.
If you've been blessed with good health and sufficient income, please consider supporting me with a donation to the St. Baldrick's Foundation. This volunteer-driven charity funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U. S. government. In 2011, St. Baldrick's raised $28,334,113 nationwide and had 45,326 shavees. Your gift will give hope to infants, children, teens and young adults fighting childhood cancers. So when I ask for your support, I'm really asking you to support these kids. Click "Make a donation" to give online, or donate by phone or mail.
Thank you!!!
