More than 160,000 kids are diagnosed with cancer each year, and 1 in 5 diagnosed will not survive. Childhood cancer takes the lives of more children in the U.S. and Canada, than any other disease. In fact, more than many other childhood diseases combined.
Although research over the last 40 years has raised the overall cure rate from virtually none to about 80%, many types of childhood cancer remain very difficult to cure. Progress is also especially slow in curing adolescents and young adults.
Since it's beginning in 2000, The St. Baldrick’s Foundation has funded more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the US government. Through the help of volunteers and 'shavee' fundraisers, they return hope to children and their families, by striving to Conquer Children's Cancer.
On April 21, 2012 (6 days after my own wedding), i will be shaving my head in the UCCS-Berger Hall's St. Baldrick's event. With my bald head I will stand in solidarity with children fighting cancer, but more importantly I will have raised money to find cures. I do this in honor of my Aunt Carmi, and Grandpa Dick, as well as for all others who have lost or are still fighting their battles against cancer.
St. Baldrick’s is proof that one person, one dollar can make a difference in the fight against childhood cancer. Please make a donation on my head, to help me reach my personal goal of $1000.00, and watch me "shave the way to conquer kid's cancer!" Your gift will give hope to infants, children, teens and young adults fighting childhood cancers. So when I ask for your support, I'm really asking you to support these kids.

Thank you for being a Hero to children with cancer!
Sincerely,
