4 and a half years ago my daughter, Rosemarie, was diagnosed with neuroblastoma just after her first birthday. She has endured over 2 dozen rounds of chemo, 6 surgeries including a 12.5 hour tumor resection surgery, 13 rounds of radiation, a stem cell transplant, 9 months of retnoic acid MIBG treatment (internal radaition), Phase I trial of IMC-A12 and Temsirolimus, and is currently on a Phase II trial. She has never had a day of freedom from treatment and doctors and over-obsessive parents. She is my hero. Everyday she inspires me.
This past summer Rosemarie lost her hair for the third time. She asked me to shave my head too. So I did. My husband, my mom, my dad, my brother, my sister, my brother-in-law, and my cousin had shaved heads too.I have been sporting a mohalk for her since then. I would to anything to show her that what's on top of her head doesn't matter.
I'm having my head shaved to stand in solidarity with kids fighting cancer, but more importantly, to raise money to find cures, for Rosemarie and so many others. Please support me with a donation to the St. Baldrick's Foundation. This volunteer-driven charity funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U. S. government. Your gift will give hope to infants, children, teens and young adults fighting childhood cancers. So when I ask for your support, I'm really asking you to support these kids. Thank you!
