I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Team Alyse

My dearest friends and family,

March 11, 2012 is the BIG DAY!
I have volunteered to have MY HEAD SHAVED to help raise funds to support childhood cancer research and to stand in solidarity with the hundreds of thousands of children who fight (and have fought) cancer. Each year, over 160,000 children are diagnosed with cancer worldwide. Many of these kiddos lose their hair because of treatments that they undergo. Chemo and other treatments take a pretty severe toll on a child's body, and hair loss is likely the gentlest of side effects. We need to find a cure. ASAP. This is a huge population we're talking about. A population of youngsters with bright futures ahead of them. 160,000 new cases EACH YEAR. Money = research = a CURE. Volunteering to have my head shaved is difficult as a healthy adult, so I really can't imagine what a child goes through when they lose their hair against their will. We have a choice; they do not. Team Alyse has joined together to honor Alyse Zabel, an inspiring, gorgeous young lady who completely taught us that beauty comes from the inside and shines outward.
Post-shave, my signature curls will be donated to Locks of Love. I will post photos galore and if you would like to attend the event, it's at Fond du Lac High School and starts at 12pm. :)
Please give freely, and pass this message on!
Y'all are righteous.
Hugs,
Kerstin
