On July 8, 2011 my life was changed forever. Shortly after 6pm that Friday evening, my wife and I were told that our 2 year old daughter, Scarlett, was in the beginning stages of Leukemia. You're never prepared to hear something like that and I can remember feeling like someone kicked me in my stomach as hard as they could and it was all I could do not to get physically ill. The following day we were admitted to Johns Hopkins and for the next six months I watched as my daughter fought for her life. As of today, Scarlett is done with her chemotherapy and I'm happy to say she's in remission. However, not every child is as lucky as Scarlett. While my daughter was in the hospital, I witnessed first hand the miracle of medical science, but I also saw that despite the advances our doctors and scientists have made in fighting childhood cancer, there's still a lot of research that needs to be done. In Scarlett's pursuit for her life, she became my hero and I want to stand in solidarity with her and all the children who are battling cancer. Therefore, I'm having my head shaved to stand in solidarity with kids fighting cancer, but more importantly, to raise money to find cures. Please support me with a donation to the St. Baldrick's Foundation. This volunteer-driven charity funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U.S. government. Your gift will give hope to infants, children, teens and young adults fighting childhood cancers. So when I ask for your support, I'm really asking you to support Scarlett and these kids. Dyan and I thank you for visiting our page and reading my message. If you would like to donate you can click on "Make a donation" to give online, or donate by phone or mail. Thank you again and God Bless. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Dyan at dyanwed@verizon.net.
