How awesome are you all. Words can't express my thanks. I started with a goal of $2000 and I am almost at $7000. Thank you for your support. Lucy is excited that the kids will get some new medicine in the hospital because of all the help you gave me.
All I can say is WOW!! I'm could never do it with out you all. Tomorrow is the big day. The mullet is gone in favor of a Hello Kitty Mohawk. Mork to come tomorrow.
Thanks to all my generous friends and family. I met my $2000 goal early. I have updated my goal to $3000. Thank you for helping me make a difference.
I am going to shave my head. I am going to raise $2,000 (or more) for St. Baldricks. The event is on March 24th in Chicago in the name of Donna’s Good Things. I found out about 4 year old Donna through a blog, written by her mother, called Mary Tyler Mom. It was a special section called Donna’s Cancer Story written daily during September 2011 to recognize Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Each of the 31 posts covered one month of Donna’s 31 months of treatment.
Donna’s story inspired me. I needed to do something to make a difference. I wasn’t sure what it would be until Mary Tyler Mom mentioned the idea of doing the St. Baldricks event. All I could think was, what an impact it would make when people saw me and asked what happened.
So here we are and I am going to shave my head because “Bald is Beautiful”. When you think about how much a child with cancer must endure, the least I can do is go “Bald”. It will grow back, right?!?!! It is only hair.
I have 2 challenges for you.
1. Read Donna’s Cancer Story. (Most of you will not be able to read more than a couple of days.)
2. Donate to my “Bald is Beautiful” campaign.
Will you accept my challenge? I hope you do.
Remember, I’m the crazy one who is going “Bald”, all you have to do is accept the challenge. Will you?
Thanks for listening and Chose Hope!
