I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Natural Killers

You heard it right - I'm shaving my head! My patients have had to lose their hair more times than I can remember, so now it's my turn to lose my hair over raising critical funds for childhood cancer research! In the US, more children die of childhood cancer than AIDS, asthma, muscular dystrophy, cystic fibrosis, and birth defects combined. The St. Baldrick’s Foundation has grown tremendously over the past decade as THE #1 non-government supporter of pediatric cancer research in this country- over $21 million in 2011. I am blessed to be a recipient of a Scholar Award for my research in NK cell therapy for children’s cancer, so now it’s time for me to give back! St. BALDrick’s, as its name would imply, raises it’s money by sponsoring head-shaving parties, and I’ve been invited to be a shavee. Given the strength and size of our patient population and our research programs at MD Anderson, we’re committed to making this event a real winner for the foundation. Last year, we almost made our goal of $5,000 by raising $3,293 at the event. This year we're going for $10,000!
