I've answered the call to be a hero! I'm having my head shaved to stand in solidarity with kids fighting cancer, but more importantly, to raise money to find cures.
I'm asking one of my patients, Alex Q., to shave my head. Alex was my first cancer patient, and he's been undergoing chemotherapy for a rare tumor known as rhabdomyosarcoma. He has three rounds of chemotherapy left. One of his favorite hobbies was giving haircuts, and in fact he wants to be a hair stylist when he grows up. Unfortunately, due in part to side effects from the chemotherapy, he's been unable to stand or handle his clippers very well. This Saturday, he'll be helping me raise money to find a better way to cure future patients with rhabdomyosarcoma and other childhood cancers.
Please support me with a donation to the St. Baldrick's Foundation. This volunteer-driven charity funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U.S. government.
Your gift will give hope to infants, children, teens and young adults fighting childhood cancers. So when I ask for your support, I'm really asking you to support these kids. Thank you!
