In 2008 I lost my second son to a rare genetic disorder called BOR syndrome. As it is an autosomal dominant condition, not only did my middle son Reverie's kidneys fail to develop normally, but his big brother Alex (now 4) has a kidney issue coupled with hearing loss and his little brother Nick (now 2) has severe hearing loss due to bilateral microtia. My mother-in-law is a breast cancer survivor and her mother died from breast cancer in 2008. So while we have not had to deal with childhood cancer, I want to show my support of the courageous families and youngsters battling cancer. I know how it feels to parent a child with challenging medical issues, and I know what cancer can do.
This year I've answered the call to be a hero! I'm having my head shaved to stand in solidarity with kids fighting cancer, but more importantly, to raise money to find cures. Please support me with a donation to the St. Baldrick's Foundation. This volunteer-driven charity funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U.S. government.
Your gift will give hope to infants, children, teens and young adults fighting childhood cancers. So when I ask for your support, I'm really asking you to support these kids. Thank you! Click "Make a donation" to give online, or donate by phone or mail.
