I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

Hello Everyone,

Once again I am writing to you to ask for your help in raising money for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation to help in their plight to battle childhood cancer as Jimmy and I will be shaving our heads again this year. Last year, you and generous folks like yourself, helped Jimmy and I raise in excess of $3,272.00. This year, we have set our goals at $2,500.00 each. With your help, I know that we can achieve this goal to help in the battle of childhood cancer. I have been doing this since 2005, and in 2007 started using the St. Baldrick’s website to help make it easier for everyone to see why we do this event. After visiting the website you can see the successes of St Baldrick’s. You have all helped Jimmy and myself raise a grand total of $9,515.00 over the last few years. Kudos to everyone because you have all made differences in the lives of the kids battling this disease and their families lives. I cannot thank you enough, or express in words, what it means to have your support.

St. Baldrick’s has a proven track record for funding research and making differences in the lives of those affected by cancer. Please visit the website so you can see all the results they have achieved with your generous donations and the kids we are sponsoring. Jimmy and I are working with the Naperville Public Works folks again this year. They are a great group of people dedicated to making a difference in the lives of so many. Please help Jimmy or myself contribute even more to their efforts as well. This is my sixth (fourth with a website) year working with St. Baldrick’s and Jimmy’s third. Again, this year we are competing to see if Jimmy can raise more money than I can, so please donate in my name. I can’t let him beat me again this year. His soon to be bald little head has a tendency to swell after contests like this.

I have done previous fundraising for childhood cancers, but after researching the St. Baldrick’s Foundation I have found that they have a better track record of getting more of the donations to research and help for the families. They accomplish this by keeping administration costs to a minimum. As long as they keep up this kind of success, I will continue to literally put my head on the shaving block!! With a head shaped like mine that’s a huge commitment!! Some folks really look good bald. I am not one of those people.

I know we all have our favorite charities that we donate to, and that budgets are especially tight for so many in this current economy, but please know that no donation is too small and every dollar, quarter, nickel, and penny count!!! Every donation is greatly appreciated! Jimmy and I appreciate anything you can spare to help us in our annual plight to try and make a family dealing with a child’s cancer just a little easier and a little more hopeful.

St. Baldrick’s has made it easy to donate. You can:
Send a check to me at the above address which I will turn in at the shaving party. Please make the check payable to: St. Baldrick’s Foundation and include my name and ID #448255 and if donating for Jimmy you can donate to ID# 448260.
Make a donation on-line by going to the St. Baldrick’s website, (www.StBaldricks.org) click on “sponsor a participant” and just type in my name or Jimmy’s name. We are listed as Shavee’s so check that box and it will lead you to our sites.
