I have chosen to honor children with brain related cancers, this is because I am a neuroscience major and I feel even more connected to these children because of that. As a student at Regis University, I have been taught in the Jesuit tradition. One of the questions we ask ourselves is: How ought we to live? This is an imperative question that we all should be asking. I encourage you to ask that of yourself. Do not donate for me, do not donate for yourself; rather, donate for these kids. Even in the face of death, they were strong and courageous giving hope to those around them. Their legacy lives on and continues to give hope to others, including me.
Why do we suffer? Why is their pain? It is what makes us stronger. Without pain and suffering, there is no hope, and without hope, life, itself, becomes bleak and discouraging. These brave souls fought and struggled for the sake of hope. I hope that you will find inspiration in their lives.
I cannot emphasize this enough: do not donate for me, do not donate for yourself. Donate for the ones who gave strength to their friends and family - the ones who continually inspire us even beyond the grave. It has been said that perfect love kills all fear. This is a comforting message. It is a hopeful message.
How ought we to live? One of the possible answers to this question is to suffer, through this, we can give hope to others. I leave you with two Bible verses. Thank you for asking yourself, "How ought I to live?" Thank you for donating. :)
Romans 12:12
Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.
Hebrews 11:1
Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.
