I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

TO SHAVE OR NOT TO SHAVE?
03/23 Shave: $2088 Don't Shave: $2000 03/22 Shave: $1193 Don't Shave: $1950 03/21 Shave: $955 Don't Shave: $1950 03/19 Shave: $835 Don't Shave: $450 03/16 Shave: $705 Don't Shave: $350 03/15 Shave: $655 Don't Shave: $50
This year, that is my question for all of you. Many of you have likely heard of my desire to participate in St. Baldrick's, an amazing organization that comes second only to the U.S. government in funding research to help fight childhood cancer. In the U.S., more children die of childhood cancer than any other disease. The brave children still fighting this battle each day - and all the kids who have faced or have yet to face childhood cancer - deserve a cure.
Although I initially found resistance from family members frustrating, I've decided to utilize the resistance to raise more money to help fund a cure. Instead of pledging outright to shave my head in solidarity with children undergoing chemotherapy, who typically lose their hair during the potentially lifesaving treatment, I have decided to let all of you generous donors decide. Should I go bald, or not?
Here's how donating will work...
- when donating, please specify the category to which you wish to donate (SHAVE or DON'T SHAVE) and the amount you are donating - you can donate as much as you wish, but only the first $1500 of any donation will count towards a specific category - anyone can donate, so please spread the word! - I will periodically update the amounts in each category via this website; at 11:11pm on March 23rd, the category with the most money "wins". If the SHAVE category has more, I will be shaving my head the next day at Boylan Heights; if not, the possibility of shaving my head is off the table... at least until next year!
Some important notes: I would STRONGLY PREFER that you donate to the "SHAVE" category. After attending my first St. Baldrick's head-shaving last year, I knew going bald for a wonderful cause was something I wanted to experience firsthand. The stipulation that only the first $1500 will "count" towards a category stems from my desire to make going bald a real possibility. If you do not specify a category when making your donation, I will assume that you wished to donate to the "SHAVE" category :)
Despite this preference, the most important thing is to donate, because ALL of the money will go to support childhood cancer research, so that all children diagnosed with cancer will have a better chance for a cure.
