I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

On March 19th I'm shaving my head and donating my hair in solidarity with children who have cancer and typically lose their hair during treatment, while raising critical funds for childhood cancer research! In the US, more children die of childhood cancer than any other disease.

From September 2010-January 2011 I was a volunteer for Children's Hospital Oakland's oncology unit, and in February of this year I was hired there as a Patient Care Assistant. I can't tell you how lucky I feel to have this job. My co-workers and the patient's families are so kind and compassionate, and the kids I work with are some of the most brave and inspiring people I've met in my life.

Cancer has touched most of our lives in one way or another, so please consider making a donation on my behalf to support childhood cancer research so that all children diagnosed with cancer will have a better chance for a cure. I'm trying to raise $1,000.00, and I know times are tough, but even $1.00 will help.

My mom has been a nurse at Children's for over 30 years, and has promised to shave her head too! To make a donation, click on "Make A Donation" or donate by mail or phone. Thank you for your support!
