I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

You heard it right - I'm shaving my head in solidarity with children who have cancer and typically lose their hair during treatment, while raising critical funds for childhood cancer research!

In the US, more children die of childhood cancer than any other disease. Please make a donation on my behalf to support childhood cancer research so that all children diagnosed with cancer will have a better chance for a cure.

Some of you who don't know me from years ago may not know why I chose Emily as a child to honor. It is quite simple, she was my wife's best friend and college roommate. I know it is too late for her, but not for others. I have lost my paternal grandmother to ovarian cancer and my wife has lost her paternal grandmother to breast cancer and her maternal grandfather to pancreatic cancer. Currently; my Uncle Robert Niles is battling stage IV lung cancer.

However, the closest person to me that I lost was my best friend and best man at my wedding, Christopher Rose. As a child, he had Hodgkins Lymphona. After many months of treatment, he was cured, but a lasting effect was that it created a small tear in artery that eventually clotted over, putting him into cardiac arrest for over 14 hours at the age of 28. He overcame this battle, but eventually lost the war 1 day short of my 2 year anniversary due to a heart attack at the age of 34.

Oh and hey, free haircut!! I need to cut cost some how.
