I helped to raise money for childhood cancer research

Hi, my name is Cassie McClanahan and I am a Junior at Palm Beach Central High School, as well as a cancer survivor. My school participated in the St. Baldrick's Foundation two years ago for the first time and was the #1 school in the nation for raising the most money out of any other high school. I am truly honored to call Palm Beach Central my high school, and it is so wonderful to see all my peers participating in the event. It means so much to me to see how people care about those going through what I went through. I am so blessed to have survived Leukemia (ALL) and I think every day about the second chance I got at life thanks to the medical research that helped save my life. It's people like this who not only care, but also take action to help those fighting this awful disease, that made that possible for me. It's because of these people donating their time and money that my parents get to wake up every day and still have me in their lives. Unfortunately, not everyone gets that chance and it's heartbreaking when you see kids one day going through treatment with you and the next week hearing that they have died. It is not right and we have to continue to fund research so that every child going through this gets a second chance at life and so one day we can say "there is no longer such a thing as cancer, we found that cure years ago".
