As many of you may know I have been spending my Thursday afternoon’s teaching music and guitar to students at Tone Zone Music School in Cary, NC. It has been my pleasure to study each week with an amazing musician and enthusiastic individual Connor Johnson. Connor has a wonderful bright outlook on just about everything he does despite his battle with cancer throughout his childhood. It has been 2 years since Connor and his family has had to suffer through treatments. So far the cancer looks to be in remission allowing Connor to focus on the things he loves like playing goalie for the Raleigh Youth Hockey traveling team. Many children are not as lucky and require our love and support to help make their dreams come true.
Every year the Johnson family and many others join together with the St. Baldricks Foundation to volunteer our time and money for a charity dedicated to “funding the most promising research to find cures for childhood cancers and give survivors long and healthy lives.”
I’m sure many of you have seen my “style” as of late… for those who have not; I have not shaved or cut my hair since the beginning of September. Originally for Halloween, I figured I should not let my hobo’ish look go without purpose so I will be participating this year as a ‘shavee’ (the kids are going to go nuts with clippers on my head). My personal donation goal is only $1000 which I think should be no problem to surpass in a short amount of time (what can I say I like to overachieve rather than miss the mark). Every dollar you can chip in will help and anyone you can pass this along to would be greatly appreciated.
So March 5th is our event here in Cary, NC at the local Irish pub The Hibernian at 1:00 pm for anyone that is local and would like to stop by to see the sight of me sans-hair.
