I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Team Jude

I'm shaving my head this year!!! Yeeeeeaaaa!!!! This is shave #3 for me, and I could not be more excited!! My first shave was in 2005. It was our second year as a St. Baldrick's venue at Helen's, and I had to experience "BALD" for myself. I was hugely inspired by my patients. I wanted to show that solidarity for them....even if my bald experience was only in a fraction of the sense.....what they go through. I shaved in honor of so many children and families that I had the honor of working with .........and I shaved as a mother......grateful for the health of my own children. My second shave was in 2008. That year, it just "felt right". I had recently changed jobs within nursing and wanted to celebrate the blessings I had received over the years (and continue to) from oncology families........and also from St. Baldrick's participants. Again, I shaved as a grateful mother....... This year, in 2011, I shave as the proud chairperson of our 8th year Helen's event, a nurse, and a mother of a child surviving cancer. What a blessing to have had St. Baldrick's enter my life 8 years ago. Little did I know then.....how St. Baldrick's would impact my strength and my hope......so very personally. What a blessing to have something so tangible to enable me as a parent to "do something". What a blessing to have this event as an opportunity to share thanks for the enormous support our family has received......and also to "pay it forward" to other families. Please make a donation on my behalf to support childhood cancer research so that all children diagnosed with cancer will have a better chance for a cure.
