I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Jacksonville Fire Fighters

Dear Family and Friends, I reached the $1000 goal I set for the St Baldrick's Foundation fundraiser being held on May 8th. However, since the fundraiser is on May 8th there is still plenty of time so I do not see any reason to stop now. This charity is important to me. I am a childhood cancer survivor. I was diagnosed with leukemia when I was 13. After 3 years of chemotherapy and a short remission I relapsed when I was 17 years old. I had a bone marrow transplant in Gainesville 4 days before my 18th birthday and I graduated from highschool while I was in the bone marrow unit recovering. I was given a 2nd chance at life in large part to advances made in the treatment of childhood cancer through research supported by foundations like St. Baldrick's. I am now a firefighter/paramedic, married, and my wife and I are working through the adoption process to adopt a child. There are still children who are not getting the 2nd chance I did, not having the opportunity to grow up. Please take a moment to donate to St. Baldrick's and let's work together to give them this chance-to find a cure for this disease. You can follow the link www.stbaldricks.org/participants/johnusry to make a donation or just to get more information. Even if $1 is all you have please understand every donation is appreciated and it all adds up. Thank You John Usry I have seen what a laugh can do. It can transform almost unbearable tears into something bearable, even hopeful.~Bob Hope
