The deed is done and the pictures are below ... with more photos coming.
I've passed my first goal of $1,000 ... so setting the sites higher! (Blew that out of the water too!)
You heard it right - I'm shaving my salt & pepper, well salt, salt, & pepper head in solidarity with children who have cancer and typically lose their hair during treatment, while raising critical funds for childhood cancer research!
A friend of mine talked me into doing this one night at Sparks (thanks Dan)- it sounded like fun, helped the kids, so I jumped right in! When I sobered up the next day, I thought I can't do this!! I have some big conferences coming up for work, there is not enough time to get ready, my head is shaped funny, etc ... maybe I'll do it next year?!? But then this week another close hockey friend, Gerry Reid, was seriously injured in an accident and is fighting for his life at Duke Hospital. It made me realize that there may not be a next year for me, nor for many of the children out their fighting as hard as Gerry to hold on to this precious life. So, I am back onboard!
Now I need your help! Can you help me raise at least $1,000 in the next 2 days?
This Saturday, March 6th, I will be at Napper Tandy's Irish Pub in my Scottish kilt, Harley boots, and my Hurricanes Jersey getting my phrenologist's dream of a head shaved. Please consider making a donation ... and if you have the time, stop on by to have a pint of Guinness with me to help steady the nerves. Logan, my nine year old son, and brother will be at the event to support me … but ‘support’ in this case will probably be laughing and pointing, as well as taking pictures!!
Thanks,
-Braden
I am doing this not only for Gerry and the kids, but also in memory of my Mother and Uncle Gerry who lost their battles with cancer and in honor of my incredible mother-in-law Irena who is a longterm survivor of her battle against breast cancer!
In the US, more children die of childhood cancer than any other disease. Please make a donation on my behalf to support childhood cancer research so that all children diagnosed with cancer will have a better chance for a cure.

Thank you for your support!
An update on Gerry- we lost my friend today, but his spirit lives on in his friends and family.
