I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

Whether you're a Republican or Democrat, prefer vinegar or mustard based bar-b-que sauce, or like Ginger or Mary Ann, one thing 99.9998% of us can agree on is that: Ending Childhood Cancer + Free Haircut = Good. Why am i shaving my head? I decided to participate in this cause for two reasons: 1) I have very personal experiences with loved ones and cancer. 2) I do not know anyone that DOESN'T have personal experiences with loved ones and cancer. Unfortunately this point is made obvious by the explosion of this organization over the past several years. Childhood cancer strikes me as so abhorrent due to it's timing. It robs children of the time in their life when they should be carefree and oblivious to the pandora's box problems waiting for them in the future. But research of ANY kind pays dividends to research of ALL kinds. History is littered with technological advances that were "discovered" serendipitously while trying to solve a totally unrelated problem. That is why funding research is important to me. The more research that happens, the more darts thrown at the wall, the more we have that stick. Just as chance led to the discovery of penicillin, there is no way to predict when and where the next major medical breakthroughs will come from, so we have to keep chugging forward. That’s the short version of the story. I'd love your support, or better yet join me in shaving your head in solidarity against children's and all forms of cancer. I'll be at Napper Tandy's with my 4 yr old son Victor along for the life lesson, in case you want to witness the scalping first hand, 6.00pm est. So now I just have to find out whether I look like Bruce Willis or Uncle Fester with a shaved head.
