I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Pirates Pillaging For a Cure

. On November 16th, 2003 my nephew Patrick lost his battle to cancer at age 4. He was diagnosed with Hepatocellular Carcinoma on October 30th, 2003 and we lost him a mere 17 days later. While his life was short his impact on those who knew him changed us all. At the time of his passing he lived next door to us and was my oldest daughter's best friend. I was there with my sister and her family in the moments just after his passing helping to collect medications, calling the funeral home and hospice care. That was without a doubt the worst night of my life. For several years we participated in the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life in his honor but this year I have decided to take a more personal (and dramatic approach) approach focused on pediatric cancer and the impact the treatment has. As you are probably aware one of the most common side effect of cancer treatment is hair loss. Upon the challenge of my brother-in-law, Patrick's father and our team captain, I will be shaving my head in the St. Baldric's event on March 14th, 2010. I know that you have charitable causes that you probably already donate to and that with the economy in the state that it is that times are a bit tougher but if you would consider any donation it would be greatly appreciated. Anything helps, whether a $1 or $100. With your help hopefully someday we can stop losing our loved ones to cancer, especially children!
