I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

On the day of St. Baldrick's in Las Cruces, I spoke with Mary-Louise Pino, whose daughter, Marissa, died from bone cancer two weeks after her 17th birthday. Marissa was diagnosed at age 13, and she and the family went through constant tribulation after trial for four years. But Marissa never wavered, carrying her smile through to the end, even when her hair was gone. I also got to meet 7-year-old Takota Medina, who was less than a year old when he was diagnosed with cancerous neuroblastoma. Takota survived the rigors of treatment, but has lasting effects. He got to shave his older brother, Vincent's hair. Here's pointing to a day kids and families can avoid the devastation of cancer.
