I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Natalie Portman Fan Club

The first reason i joined this team was an excuse to shave my head. To my knowledge, i don't personally know anyone who's had any kind of cancer, with the exception of my high school physics teacher, who survived through chemo and, last i heard, is still teaching and still quite happy and sarcastic. I'm not here specifically for anyone. Should i be? Must we know personally those misfortuned whom we support? Should we even have to go to the effort, since we live in a society one of whose principal concerns is to care for its weak? There's never enough care, there's never enough support. But perhaps it's more relevant that there's never enough awareness. We all pay attention in spurts. This will be one of mine. I toast those who have lost their hair or worse to one of our great puzzles, with the recognition that i, by choice, can only stand in solidarity with those who, by chance, stand to lose. May we stand dignified, resolved, and thoroughly bald.

St. Baldrick’s Honored Kids

Kids with cancer are our reason for it all. They’re the inspiration behind our event and the reason we’re helping fund childhood cancer research. We believe all kids should be able to grow up and turn their dreams into realities. Join our event or make a donation, and click the photos below to read their incredible stories.
