If you know me well, then you know that shaving my head is a big sacrifice. I usually prefer to grow my hair out until my parents "suggest" I get a trim, or a teacher at school suggests one and threatens me with a detention for dress code violation. But shaving my head is worth the couple of months I will spend with a slightly bit more breezy head, and certainly colder!
Some people have told me that unless I am donating my hair to make wigs, which is obviously too short to do, for childhood cancer patients who lose their hair, then shaving my head is pointless and I might as well just hand the St. Baldrick's foundation the money and keep my hair. Although I am not donating my hair, they are wrong. I am shaving my head in solidarity, respect, and moral support for those who CANNOT choose whether or not they want to lose their hair during cancer treatment.
In the US, more children die of childhood cancer than any other disease. So please make a donation on my behalf to support childhood cancer research so that all children diagnosed with cancer will have a better chance for a cure.
