Please join me in supporting St. Baldrick's again this year. I'll be shaving my head on March 22 to raise funds to find a cure for childhood cancers. Last year my friends and I raised about $5,000 for this worthy cause. Please consider donating a couple bucks to help us reach our goals in support of St. Baldrick's. If you'd like to join us in shaving our heads (we've lost a couple shavees due to complaints from the wives...), let me know and I can help you join our team. Otherwise, consider joining us at the event to cheer us on...or to laugh with us. If you've been touched by cancer, please help us help St. Baldrick's raise money for cures.
Last year St. Baldrick's raised over $16.5 million to combat childhood cancers. Check out the info below for a brief description of St. Baldrick's.
Thanks as always!
Barry
Mission
More than 160,000 children are diagnosed with cancer worldwide each year, and in North America, more children die of cancer than any other disease. Despite tremendous research progress, only 78% will survive their first five years after diagnosis. Our organization allows everyone to help find a cure for childhood cancers by giving their time, financial support and even sacrificing their hair to raise awareness and funds for research.
Description
We raise funds through an international series of events known as St. Baldrick's Celebrations. Events vary in size according to the community. Grants are made in each country where events take place and funds are raised. In the United States grants have been made to the Children's Oncology Group whose member institutions treat more than 90% of the children with cancer in North America, and to 33 other institutions to train promising young doctors for careers in childhood cancer research, or to fund important research projects.
