I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: NCSU CVM

3/5/10 Today I got the biggest donation from Melbourne, Australia. The only friend in Architectural School who's got the Phd. after her name! I have no doubt why she is so blessed. Her heart is so big; it expands across the Pacific Ocean and touches mine deeply here in Raleigh, NC. 2/28/10 I am bald and I like it more than imagined. It was exhilarating and I strongly recommend this to everybody. Keep your contribution coming; it is not over until Sat 3/13. My sister, Mai, is my best friend! I realize it would have been much harder without her help. We rode together to Glenwood Ave, not quite sure where to go or to park, drove around the block twice, parked at a quasi legal spot and walked around. It was very cold and then we were at the Hibernian tent. I never was afraid to do this but at that moment it got very real; a bit too real! Daniel drove 2hrs from his Rev War,/Zulu War Reenacting workshop in Greensboro just to show up at the wrong Hibernian at 6:05pm. Cary Hibernian's event is next Saturday. He was safe arriving at exact time before they started shaving my head. It was the best feeling seeing Daniel's face and he was with me every step of the way. I was glad I was late for the show! The NSCU team is awesome; they made me feel welcome. The movie clip does not work in the gallery. I will find a photo and put it up. I also have great friends from work; Rob and his beautiful wife, Jenny and her squeeze, and then DOUG!!!! Doug ended up shaving his head and raised more fund from Niles (the tavern's charming owner) for our team; I was so ecstatic! Thanks for adding so much joy to this event guys. You are amazing; every single one of you! I called my son to report the success. Nathan sounded very proud. Oh, how parents can do crazy things just to impress their children! I am going to show off my bald head proudly. The hard part is when the hair grows back! Thanks Jane Hoppen and all the event sponsors and organizers. You are so good at what you do. Angkana 2/26/10 Half of my hair is gone; check out the new photos. NCSU friends are endearing and tremendously supportive at the butcher block! I am afraid that my today photo and my 'after' will find a way to our Christmas slide show this year. Nevertheless, by that time I should have 2" long hair then. Piece of cake! PS: David Wynne's donation got me to number 1 fund-raiser for this moment. I have to work hard to hold my place :) Also, I got a donation from Thailand; it is the first donation from oversea and I am so proud of my brother. 2/22/10 Join us at lunch time this Friday 2/26 in Room 301, Admin III Building, 2701 Sullivan Drive, NCSU campus, for a pre-shaving/clipping Angkana's hair for St. Baldrick's Foundation. I am selling my hair by the clump (not by a hair). No donation is too small to help Kids' cancer research!!!! Call me at 919/515-8062 in case you cannot come but want to give your donation. Photos will be posted because I refuse to be afraid and embarrassed. Thanks for your support :) Hi Great Folks, I washed my hair today (2/19/10) to get an accurate "Before" photo as a record. I woke Daniel up to take the photos. Sorry Babe :( It is worth $5 or more donation for this good cause. You help make these happen; 1. More research fund to fight Kids' Cancer. 2. "Lock of Love" can have 24" long hair to make new wigs for cancer survivors. The longest I can donate so far. 3. I can experience being bald. I might like it! Washing long hair is a chore. You can give me cash or check and I will give you the receipts. Using credit card via website is the easiest and you have an instant receipt for 2010 tax deduction. Thank all friends who have made donations. I am encouraged by your support from my yesterday email broadcast. I will have a "clipping hair" event at work next Friday before the shaving day. It should be only the lower half of my head so I will have the top half when I show up at the event. Love you all, Angkana 2/21/10 Hey Chris, Thanks for putting this team together. Below is the email I just sent to Laura. I am trying my best to raise as much fund as possible on and off the web. Right now my percentage (to my goal) is lower than our team's accomplishment. I have a belief that we will make the team's goal eventually. Angkana ***************************************************** Hi Laura, Just want to say hello as one of the team members. Though I did not know anyone at the Vet School, I am grateful that Chris and you all have provided me an opportunity to be part of this great event. I am an architect in the Design and Construction Services at Admin III Building on Sullivan Drive. I hope to see you this coming Saturday. Angkana PS: I enjoy the friendly competition between you and me. Right now I just narrowly passed you for the second slot on web donation. I hope this week brings us more traffic for this good cause. Cheers!
