I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research
Alright ladies and gents...it's been almost 2 years since I decided to let my curls grow and it's about time to let them go!
On April 19th 2008 my little brother Paul passed away from a car accident - he was only 22. Paul was my guitar hero, he was my Tae Kwon Do partner and more importantly he was my best friend. The last conversation Paul and I had was about growing our hair out long. Paul made this bet since his hair was already longer than mine and he loved to show up his older brother, so I started to let my hair grow (much to my disliking). About 2 months later I lost Paul and it has been really hard for me and my family. I decided to keep my end of our bargain and continue to let my hair grow.
Paul loved to teach Tae Kwon do and he was especially gifted at teaching children the martial art. This is one of the reasons I decided to become a "shavee" for the St. Baldrick's Foundation. I know Paul will love the fact that all donations will benefit children with cancer and I KNOW he will love to see me with a bald head! When the time comes and I am able to see my brother again this experience for sure will be the first thing we talk about.
I know this is my first year and I know shooting for a donation goal of $1000.00 seems impossible but come on look at these curls I'm carrying. Many women would gladly pay that much for curls half this good! : )
Anyway all donations are greatly appreciated and thanks for taking the time to read my story.
