Dear Deans, Faculty, Family, and Friends,
We often take life's miracles and blessings for granted. Our busy schedules have us running from one place to another without detrimental moments of pause and reflection for the things we should truly be thankful - our health, happiness, aspirations, etc. I am writing you today because there are less fortunate children that need our help.
In the US, more children die of childhood cancer than any other disease. According to the American Cancer Society, an estimated 10,730 new cases are expected to occur among children aged 0-14 years in 2008. While mortality rates for childhood cancer have declined throughout the years, they still are not low enough. More research and funding is needed to completely eradicate childhood cancer. I realize this is a radical vision that is far from being achieved, but with your help, we can bring this vision one step closer to becoming a reality.
I am shaving my head in solidarity with children who have cancer and typically lose their hair during treatment, while raising critical funds for childhood cancer research!
Please make a donation on my behalf to support childhood cancer research so that all children diagnosed with cancer will have a better chance for a cure. Anything you can contribute would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much for your time and support!
Sincerely,
