I hate getting solicitations for charities and, prior to this, I have never asked for one (aside from the M&M's that purported to fund my band uniform ' never did learn how to play an instrument :-) ). I know that all of us are approached for many worthwhile causes. Like those, this cause is absolutely worthwhile, BUT, for me, it is also personal. My 16 year old niece, Alicia, was diagnosed with Ewings Sarcoma bone cancer which has spread to her lungs and she is courageously battling against the disease. Ewing's sarcoma accounts for about 2% of all teen cancers. Approximately 200 children in the United States will be diagnosed each year with this disease. Alicia has completed six rounds of chemo and thirty rounds of radiation. Beginning on February 20, she will be hospitalized for at least a month for high dose chemo and bone marrow transplant.
So, to show my support, I'm shaving my head. (After all, I figure it will go well with my impaired voice!)
I am asking you to help me raise as much money as I can for the foundation to fund as much research as possible! No amount is too big or too small ' every gift will be appreciated.
Also, if your work offers corporate matching (like Aspect), please take advantage of that. St. Baldrick's Tax ID is: 20-1173824.
Thanks,
Mike
