I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Sharks With Laser Beams

You heard it right - I'm shaving my head in solidarity with children who have cancer and typically lose their hair during treatment, while raising critical funds for childhood cancer research! In the US, more children die of childhood cancer than any other disease. Please make a donation on my behalf to support childhood cancer research so that all children diagnosed with cancer will have a better chance for a cure. I'm participating in honor of two brave children: Lauren Thompson is my cousin's daughter (my 1st cousin, once removed). She was diagnosed with a germ-cell cancer in June 2006 when she was 2.5 years old. Germ cell cancer is a very rare, very aggressive, but quite treatable form of cancer. She is currently doing very well. Caiden Hooks is the son of a high-school friend of mine. In June 2005 -- two months before his 2nd birthday -- he was diagnosed with bilateral retinoblastoma. Cancerous tumors were present in both of his eyes. He has been in treatment since then. In March of 2007 his left eye was removed, then in September his right eye was removed. Since then he is doing very well, learning to enjoy life as a four-year old without the benefit of eyesight. These children (and their families) are the not the only ones we know who have dealt with cancer in their lives. Through "friends of a friend" we know of so many kids that are battling leukemia and other forms of childhood cancer. I'm not sure how goofy I'll look with a shaved head, but I know I can deal with it for a month or so to help make it so fewer kids and their families will have to deal with cancer. To make a donation, click on "Donate Online" or "Donate by mail or phone." If you need any assistance, please contact me. Thank you for your support! Any donation helps! Come here to see my "after" photo after March 8th!
