I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Nathan's Network

I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Nathan's Network

I've donated money to this charity for several years, but I decided to become a Shavee after Nathan, the seven-year-old son of our friends, lost his battle with Neuroblastoma. Nathan was a sweet kid, and I like to share a couple of tidbits with people who didn't have the pleasure to meet him. First, Nathan was a kid. He had a favorite Scooby Do character, Freddy. In Nathan's words, "My favorite is Freddy. He is smart. He always has a plan for a trap. And he always drives." He was also a budding feminist, recognizing, "Well, Velma is smart too." Nathan had a favorite hymn as well, "Joyful, Joyful We Adore Thee." We sang it at his funeral, and I remember how appropriate it seemed because the life of Nathan Gentry is an Ode to Joy.
