Why am I shaving my head, and why should you care?

Did you know, 1 in 5 kids diagnosed with cancer in the U.S. won’t survive? For those who do, more than 96% have severe or life-threatening conditions by the time they are 50.

Each shaved head, every dollar donated, creates a ripple effect of progress for kids with cancer.

On a personal note, being a patient of a chronic illness myself has been both a blessing and a curse. I entered medicine after dealing with congenital heart disease and early heart failure as a teenager. While I was lucky enough to have a condition with a cure, many of these children don’t and are enduring a condition much worse than anything most of us can imagine. I swore to myself that if I recovered from heart failure I would give back to those less fortunate. And so, shaving my head in solidarity and awareness of childhood cancer is my first step in paying forward my second chance.

Your gift will give kids and their families hope, supporting the best research across the country, through the largest charity funder of childhood cancer research grants, the St. Baldrick’s Foundation.

Also if I can reach my stretch goal, I will let the kids choose how I should rock my beard :) Together, let’s give these kids the lifetime they deserve. Thank you for your support!
