I am shaving to raise money for childhood cancer research with: For The Kids that Don't Have a Choice

Hi everyone!
Yes, I've decided to do it again and aiming for $1000 for each month leading up to the event which makes $6000.  Ideally it would be AMAZING to double that to $12,000! Back in 2017 I was able to raise $10,955 with your help and I know we can do more with more time. Please help spread the word!

I've been a child life specialist for 21 years specifically working with pediatric oncology. I proudly work at Inova LJ Murphy Children's Hospital on the inpatient unit, volunteer with Bite Me Cancer (teen bags & research) & Special Love, Inc (camps & financial support) to name a few of the organizations. I also serve on the board for COCA - Children's Oncology Camping Association, so you can see I am dedicated to these kids and their families. I wouldn't have it any other way.

The average age of a child diagnosed with cancer is 6 years old. At my hospital alone, we have experienced up to 8 newly diagnosed children in ONE WEEK!!! Treatments are tough and so are kids BUT we MUST do better for them. Did you know, 1 in 5 kids diagnosed with cancer in the U.S. won't survive? For those who do, more than 96% have severe or life-threatening conditions by the time they are 50.

We all know things are tight right now and funding is getting cut - including for childhood cancer research. The money raised through St. Baldricks events is given in grant form to physicians and other medical experts to develop NEW and LESS TOXIC drugs for CHILDREN! While there have been some positives recently in treatments, it's not enough and does not apply to every child.

I would appreciate your support again this year as I will be shaving in August which is right before September - Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. NO amount is too small or big.
If you are local, I would love to have you join me in support of this awesome opportunity in person on the day of the event, on Facetime, or just in spirit.
Together, let's give these kids the lifetime they deserve.  I have been blessed to know and care for all those that I have honored here on this page as well as those in the album.  Thank you for your support!
