Why am I shaving my head with St. Baldrick’s? I have known way too many people affected with cancer in my life. My cousin Jacob Declan Aho was diagnosed with brain cancer when he was just 4 years old. Jacob fought his battle with cancer for 10 years before passing away just over a year ago on December 31, 2023. Jacob was not only my cousin, but he was a role model to me and my family. Jacob would always tell jokes and have a smile on his face even though he had the most to be sad or upset about. He had every right to be in a bad mood each day, but instead, his positive attitude, gratitude, and silly personality are what we got to see and remember.
“Knock knock”
“Who’s there?”
“Billy Bob Joe Pennie”
“Billy Bob Joe Pennie who”
“Seriously? How many Billy Bob Joe Pennies do you know?”
Kids with cancer need our support now more than ever. St. Baldrick’s is the largest non-government funder of childhood cancer research grants, and the pandemic has slashed donations, slowing down the progress to find cures.
Cancer kills more of our kids than any other disease. Research can change that, and I don’t want to let these kids down. Can you help? Thank you so much!
