Why am I shaving my head, and why should you care?
When I was eight years old, I left school early one day feeling sick. Later that afternoon, I had a seizure. The next thing I knew, I was waking up in a hospital bed, confused and scared. After five nights in the hospital and countless tests, I received news no child should ever have to hear—I had brain cancer.
One month later, I underwent brain surgery to remove the tumor. But just when I thought the worst was behind me, the tumor started growing back. Almost exactly a year later, I had to go through another surgery.
Thankfully, since that day, I’ve been cancer-free and healthy. I will always be deeply grateful to the incredible doctors and nurses who helped me through such a terrifying time, and I consider myself one of the luckiest people in the world.
But I know that not every child diagnosed with cancer gets the same outcome. Many face even tougher battles, and some don’t get the chance to grow up.
Each shaved head, every dollar donated, creates a ripple effect of progress for kids with cancer.
Your gift will give kids and their families hope, supporting the best research across the country, through the largest charity funder of childhood cancer research grants, the St. Baldrick’s Foundation.
