I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Remembering Michael Motorcycle

20 Years!!!! Words can't begin to express how grateful we are to David, Cindy, Sophia and of course Chow....for what they have done over so many years not just for Childhood Cancer, but for every single child and family that has walked through their doors.....  They have given those in the midst of their fight a place to gain strength and hope and know that they are not alone, while at the same time given those of us who have lost a child a place to speak their name....a place to remember, a place to pay it forward in hopes that another family does not have to join this fight in remembrance of their child!  This event at our beloved Kitty Hoynes has been a day filled with so many emotions over the years.  For our family, it was 15 years ago, 2010, when we walked into this little Irish Bar with our newly diagnosed 4 year old Mikey in our arms, his big brother Parker just 6 at the time, over come with so much HOPE and LOVE from every single person we encountered!  Our first official team in 2011 was awe inspiring...our team Standing Strong with Michael Motorcycle filled our hearts with gratitude...it was just a short year later that our team changed to Remembering Michael Motorcycle.  Our Mikey fought bravely for 16 months but died on June 13, 2011 at 6 years old.  The loss of a child, our child, is in no way anything a parent is ever prepared for, let alone having to witness them fight for their life and suffer from this horrific disease.  My eyes swell and and my heart overflows when I tell you how incredibly grateful we are to each and every one of you who have over the years shaved for Mikey, came out to an event in support with us, donated to research for this incredibly underfunded and over looked disease, and more than anything else...stood with us and stood by our family over the past 15 years.  Our lives, mine, Brian and Parker's, forever altered when Mikey died....we are not the same people we once were.  But what I can share is that what we strive to be are better humans, we have a choice, a choice to live our life for Mikey and be incredibly thankful for all the blessing we have been given....We were given Mikey for 6 years, although far too short, they were a gift and one that we are so very thankful to have had.  It's because of him that we strive to do better, life larger and love deeper...he wouldn't want it any other way!  So if you found your way to this page, I hope you will always remember this little blonde haired boy who changed our world, and hopefully yours too.....

With grateful hearts.....

Aimee...Mikey's Mommy

Why am I shaving my head, and why should you care?

A challenge among friends 25 years ago has become the largest volunteer movement to Conquer Kids’ Cancer. This year, I’m joining thousands of others to shave my head to raise money for childhood cancer research!

Did you know, 1 in 5 kids diagnosed with cancer in the U.S. won’t survive? For those who do, more than 96% have severe or life-threatening conditions by the time they are 50.

Each shaved head, every dollar donated, creates a ripple effect of progress for kids with cancer.

Your gift will give kids and their families hope, supporting the best research across the country, through the largest charity funder of childhood cancer research grants, the St. Baldrick’s Foundation.

Together, let’s give these kids the lifetime they deserve. Thank you for your support!
