I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

I decided to shave my head this year to honor the precious life of my son, Mason La Vack-aka Mr. Courageous. On September 6, 2011, we lost our son, sibling, grandchild, nephew, cousin and friend to an aggressive brain tumor known as anaplastic ganglioglioma.  Mason endured his first craniotomy on September 6, 2009 when he was seven years old.  Those two years between that surgery and his passing were incredibly challenging for him.  Another craniotomy immediately followed the first, and he was given 32 consecutive rounds of radiation shortly thereafter.  There was the spinal tap somewhere in there after one of the scans showed the cancer was coming back- I remember that being particularly scary.  There were the countless finger pricks, the port surgery, chemo, bloody noses, continued headaches and the hurtful stares and comments from unkind people who wondered what was wrong with my son when the radiation, chemo and steroids changed the way he looked.  Mason showed courage and levity in those times that most adults will never comprehend.  He exuded positivity and he loved to laugh and to sing through especially rough times.  He captured the heart of everyone he met, and there are even people who never met Mason that tell me they feel like they know him.  Mason is still all around us!  I love to think that he is still playing jokes on us and laughing along with us from the great beyond, sending dimes and pennies and owls and hawks and countless other things our way to remind us to keep living!  To keep laughing!  To keep loving!  To keep supporting our children who are still fighting boldly!  Please help me honor those children and let's RAISE SOME MONEY for this incredible foundation.  Come see me get my head shaved in person and laugh along with me as it happens!  Thank you for your time, you are so appreciated!
