St. Baldrick’s is the largest non-government funder of childhood cancer research grants, and the pandemic has slashed donations, slowing down the progress to find cures. This cause is very personal to me. My son, Austin Keith, was taken from us by this cruel disease. He was only 6 years old. He had a brain tumor called Anaplastic Ependymoma. Anyone who knew Austin knew that he loved to smile and laugh!! It was his love language. Cancer robbed him of the ability to laugh and smile towards the end of his life. That was devastating. Austin never got the chance to play sports, learn to drive, go to college, or get married. Cancer kills more of our kids than any other disease.
