I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

OK shameful truth here.  I hate writing these thing.  They have a boilerplate for those who cannot write, but that is not my style.  Copying and pasting last year's statement,.... well, I will do that.  However, before I do, I want to share a little story.  St Baldrick's allows their shavee's to honor a child.  I prefer to find children in my area (on the off chance they may be at the shaving).  And, that is, in part why I do it.  Solidarity with the children, right?  Well this year, I was looking for a child to honor. After reading one child's story, I read her status.  Her status was "angel." It ripped my heart out. Heck, it brings me to tears even writing this narrative. I cannot imagine being a parent (or grandparent) of child with cancer. My whole life would consist of praying for a cure, while putting on a loving smile for the child.
So, why am I shaving my head with St. Baldrick’s? Because with your donation “on my head,” together, we can save lives. Also, kid's are our future! I was blessed with two healthy children, and now 2 healthy grandchildren. Others, however, are not so lucky. Their children are facing horrors no one should face. Combined with the loss of the innocence of childhood, the tragedy is unconscionable

Research is hope for kids with cancer, but donations to find cures have been down since 2020, as COVID seems to have effected many families.

Your gift will give kids hope, supporting the best research across the country, through the largest charity funder of childhood cancer research grants.

Cancer kills more of our kids than any other disease. I don’t want to let these kids down. I am doing my part, now I need your help. Can you help? Thank you!
