I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

Why am I shaving my head, and why should you care?

I am a single mom of two wonderful children. My life was very charmed growing up as one of six kids on the westbank in Gretna and Belle Chasse. Now, I work as a real estate professional and real estate investor and reside in Treme.

I’m grateful everyday to still be here.

You see, I didn’t know if I’d be here or if I’d get have children because at the fancy free age of 27, my life took a sharp turn that made life quite uncertain.

In late 2004, there was a mass the size of a flattened baseball behind my sternum. Two months later and three biopsies and a panic attack later in 2005, I was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma, sending my world into a tailspin. Biopsies, chemotherapy, radiation – it all became a terrifying reality.

Every trip to the hospital brought a wave of anticipatory anxiety, my body reacting before my mind could catch up. The word "chemo" became a trigger, evoking involuntary ticks and a constant battle with fear.

But I refuse to let cancer define me. I’m here today, grateful for every moment, every victory. That’s why I’m dedicated to supporting organizations like St. Baldrick's, who are leading the charge against childhood cancer.

Your support matters. Whether it’s through donations, volunteering, or spreading awareness, we can make a difference together. Let’s envision a world where no child has to face the pain and fear of cancer. Join me in supporting St. Baldrick's, and together, let’s paint a brighter future for our children.

Did you know, 1 in 5 kids diagnosed with cancer in the U.S. won’t survive? For those who do, more than 96% have severe or life-threatening conditions by the time they are 50.

Each shaved head, every dollar donated, creates a ripple effect of progress for kids with cancer.

Your gift will give kids and their families hope, supporting the best research across the country, through the largest charity funder of childhood cancer research grants, the St. Baldrick’s Foundation.

Together, let’s give these kids the lifetime they deserve. Thank you for your support!
