I helped to raise money for childhood cancer research

Greetings from Milwaukee! Thank you for taking the time to look at my page as the Marquette Evans Scholars help raise money in support of fighting against pediatric cancers. I ask that you would consider donating any amount of money as it truly helps! I hope you are keeping healthy, happy and safe; may God bless you and your family!

Background on profile picture:

There are many people in my life that I enjoy spending time with. One of those people being my cousin and my best friend, Griffin Maks. In the profile photo used, Griffin is pictured with his "son" Woof Bear. The reason I chose this photo is not only because I love him, but also the fact that for most of his life he has had to battle leukemia.

For a handful of his life, Griffin was always in and out of hospitals as he had many recurrences. A vivid memory I have during his cancer battle was when he relapsed during the start of my freshman year in college. During those times in the hospital, we would always be on a call talking about anything. Sometimes we would chat about the newest One Piece chapter, how he was handling the treatment or trying to coordinate when we could play games on the xbox together. There were times where we wouldn't say anything and just stay on the phone for hours. Although nothing was said it was comforting to be in each other’s presence, even if it was just over the phone.

I could honestly go on and on talking about Griffin. The family trips we took together, the sleepovers we had as kids and how quickly he was able to down a bowl of mac and cheese. Griffin has been an inspiration in many people’s lives. He always took on the grueling challenge of battling leukemia and would rarely complain about the cards that he was dealt. But it is with a heavy heart that I say Griffin has passed on. This summer was the last summer that we all got to spend with him. His memory lives on in everyone that has been touched by his beautiful soul.

I am very motivated to help raise money for a charitable cause such as "Conquering Childhood Cancers" to help families who may be experiencing the same thing.

To my cousin and most importantly my best friend, I love you!
