I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

It is easy to get overwhelmed by everything, and think that nothing you can do can make much of a difference. That is why events like this are so important - it's not about one person, its about a lot of people making a small contribution that makes a big difference.

TWELVE YEARS we have worked with St. Baldrick's to raise funds for cancer research and treatment. Over that time, in small donations, we have raised tens of thousands of dollars towards helping families. In aggregate, that is a research grant, or a fellowship or a treatment that would not have been funded otherwise.

For two decades, it has been my privilege to work with a large number of universities and research hospitals, some of which have investigators specifically focused on treatments for children's cancer, and St. Baldrick's provides the grants that make their efforts possible.

So, yes, for another year I am shaving my head, because anything we can do, big or small to help, ultimately pushes things in the right direction.
