I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

Why am I shaving my head, and why should you care?

In late 2022, I learned about a young man, Cobey, 12, who was diagnosed with Leukemia for a 2nd time in his young life thru his dad. It hit me very hard especially being that it was around Christmas. I stayed in touch with his dad for updates and offered up as much positive thoughts as I could. There were some definitely some ups and downs. Cobey and his dad share a common love for sports and later in 2023 they were able to drive out over 500 miles together to see their favorite baseball team, the Braves, take on the Brewers. Meeting them both was the highlight of my summer last year. Since then, Cobey has overcome numerous hurdles and has even gotten back to playing organized sports himself! Cobey has whipped Lukemia twice now and will continue to do so in the future if need be.  No kid should ever have to endure what Cobey has gone thru in his young life and while Cobey has been battled thru, not every kid is as fortunate as he. I'll be rocking my Team Cobey shirt at the event Saturday as I know he wants to help as many kids that have or currently dealing with similar adversities. If you have a dollar to donate please consider donating to this wonderful event. You can follow Team Cobey on Facebook for updates as well. Lastly here is a little background on St. Baldrick’s:

A challenge among friends 25 years ago has become the largest volunteer movement to Conquer Kids’ Cancer. This year, I’m joining thousands of others to shave my head to raise money for childhood cancer research!

Did you know, 1 in 5 kids diagnosed with cancer in the U.S. won’t survive? For those who do, more than 96% have severe or life-threatening conditions by the time they are 50.

Each shaved head, every dollar donated, creates a ripple effect of progress for kids with cancer.

Your gift will give kids and their families hope, supporting the best research across the country, through the largest charity funder of childhood cancer research grants, the St. Baldrick’s Foundation.

Together, let’s give these kids the lifetime they deserve. Thank you for your support!
