I helped to raise money for childhood cancer research with: SHS Math Department

HI all!! Thank you for reading my page. I am so excited to participate in Schaumburg High School's 8th St. Baldrick's Event. In the past, I have cut my hair at 2 of those other events and this year I will be doing the same. That's right, I will be cutting my long hair! This last year, my daughters and I were touched indirectly by cancer. First, our neighbor, Sandy, was fighting her 3rd battle with cancer. This time it came back really strong. In December 2022 she nearly lost her life and was on life support. Doctors did not give lots of hope to her family and put her on hospice care. She surprised everyone and not only returned home to enjoy walks with her son and sister, but also to live another 13 months. Just this January, Sandy went home to her heavenly father. How did this effect my family? Well, Lennyn made sure that Sandy and her sister Judy were in our prayers every night. Both my girls prayed for Sandy's peace and the Lord's will.

Even closer to us is Franklynn's dance-friend's mom, Ms Christie. Christie learned that she had stage 1B  grade 3 breast cancer in June of 2023. Within days she had a treatment plan. Christie is a rockstar momma that gives everything to her kids and those around her. You will almost never see Christie without a smile - even through this tough journey. My girls have continued to pray for Ms Christie each night. Christie has finished her chemo treatments, mastectomy and is going to start radiation soon. Each step of the way, myself and the girls have been cheering her on and are amazed at the strength that Christie, her husband Chris, and their three kids have shown.

While neither of these are women delt with a childhood cancer, their lives and their families lives (and friend lives) have been changed and affected. I am raising money this year to celebrate their strength, honor the memories we have with Sandy, and encourage Christie to keep shining her positivity through the next season of her journey.
