12th year shaving with St. Baldrick's!!
My story:
I was introduced to St. Baldrick's though a friend in Scouting. In October of 2015, and my 4th year shaving my head, when I was only 14 years old; I found out I had a brain tumor. After a successful surgery to get most of the tumor out, I spent few weeks in the hospital. After getting released, I went to PT, OT and Speech therapy. Soon after, I was back in the classroom with my peers, learning as an 8th grader should be; at the time.
After yearly MRIs on my brain; 8 years later, this past year; the brain tumor came back. This time it was smaller and spent a little over 24 hours in the hospital. None the less, recovery was much quicker overall because the tumor was a third of the size compared to the first one.
Over the past 9+ years, I've used St. Baldrick's as one of the many platforms & organizations I work with, to share my story with others. In the time I've shared my story, I realize I'm one of the the lucky ones that got a second (or even third) chance at life because of organizations such as St. Baldrick's.
Did you know, 1 in 5 kids diagnosed with cancer in the U.S. won’t survive? For those who do, more than 96% have severe or life-threatening conditions by the time they are 50.
Each shaved head, every dollar donated, creates a ripple effect of progress for kids with cancer.
Your gift will give kids and their families hope, supporting the best research across the country, through the largest charity funder of childhood cancer research grants, the St. Baldrick’s Foundation.
Together, let’s give these kids the lifetime they deserve. Thank you for your support!
