Why am I shaving my head?
Many years ago, before I even knew about St. Baldrick's, a friend of mine was diagnosed with cancer. I offered to shave my head in solidarity if she needed to have chemo. Thankfully she didn't need it.
And then another friend was diagnosed and another and a friends child and my sister....
When I met my friend Marilyn she was going to be a St. Baldrick's shavee for the first time. I couldn't participate with her that year but I did the next and have been involved ever since. I am motivated by raising funds first and foremost to help fund pediatric cancer research. And...every year that I am a shavee I keep close in my heart the friends and my sister who are survivors, the friends who are in the midst of their fight, and the friends who have passed on. Along the way I've encouraged and recruited many friends to be shavee's and/or participants in this yearly campaign and I'm grateful to each and every one of them.
Now I'm encouraging and recruiting you. Every dollar donated, creates a ripple effect of progress for kids with cancer. So far the this years team has raised $1,630 and while that's a great start we have a way to go before March 15th.
Your donation will support the best research across the country, through the largest charity funder of childhood cancer research grants, the St. Baldrick’s Foundation.
Please consider donating at the link below. And if you've already donated, thank you and please considering sharing this email or FB post to others who might also donate.
